It is extremely important to understand and embrace diversity. I want my students to be accepting of everyone no matter where they come from or what they look like. Diversity is beautiful because it shows our uniqueness and how we can come together through our differences and learn from each other. All students should be exposed to diversity so that they understand what it is. In my classroom I will make sure to talk about different cultures and backgrounds. I did not experience a lot of diversity in my school when I was younger, but my teachers did talk about different cultures and different backgrounds so that I still had an understanding of what diversity is. In order to incorporate diversity in my classroom I will also have multicultural posters around the room and have classroom discussions with them on diversity and what it means. 

 

If there are any diversity issues in the classroom I will be sure to talk to the parents of the student or students that are causing issues and I will also speak to the students as a whole about the importance of acceptance and inclusion of everyone. Nobody wants to be treated unfairly and I will make sure that if the issue continues then I will bring it to the principals attention as well.
